Bid Student Challenge

A project that enables students to give an entrepreneur from a developing country a new life. The Challenge aims to be a platform that connects students, professionals and entrepreneurs and enables them to learn from each other while striving to improve the business plans of entrepreneurs.

During six weeks, business oriented students from all over the country will review and improve 30 business plans of entrepreneurs in developing countries. In small groups of three to four people, and with the guidance of a professional coach, the students will help these entrepreneurs getting a better opportunity in their local markets.

What does the challenge look like?

First the coaches, all young professionals at different companies, will get their own training from professional trainer Marijke Kleyweg during the Coach-the-Coach sessions. During the Kick-Off the students meet their group members and coach and receive the business plan. Moreover, expert speakers in the field introduce the event and explain it in more detail. In the following six weeks the groups will work on their report to make it profitable and, with the help of their coach, learn what a good business plan should look like. The students will participate in several a Masterclass where they will learn for instance how to pitch and improve business plans. Eventually students will upload their final improved business plan in the form of a short movie presentation before the Finals. During this day, after all projects have been submitted, a jury will select the best five groups and invite them to do a live pitch to present their projects.

The BiD Student Challenge is a valuable experience for participating students, coaches, sponsoring companies and entrepreneurs. Our goal is to provide added value for all parties that participate. Students specifically, will be able to work on their personal development, knowledge and gain significant real life business experience.
