Terms & Conditions High Potential Challenge
I. Scope and Application
1. Scope
These Terms and Conditions solely apply to the High Potential Challenge, hereafter called “HPC”, initiated by study association Aureus, hereafter called “Aureus”.
II. Terms and Conditions
1. Participants
Participants of the HPC have to be enrolled students of the VU University, studying at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, hereafter called Feweb, at the time of the event of selection.
Members of the board of Aureus are excluded from participation.
2. Events
Tickets for the HPC final can be won on selected Aureus events and selected events organized by Aureus en Sefa, The study association for Economics and Business Studies at the University of Amsterdam.
Tickets can be won during the following events:
- Amsterdam Marketing Challenge
- Amsterdam Academic Conference inhouse days ING & HP
- Amsterdamse Carrière Dagen
- Executive Dinner (2x)
- BiD Student Challenge
- Graduates Trip
3. Winning a ticket
For more information regarding on how (a) ticket(s) can be won during above mentioned selected events, please refer to the HPC page on the Aureus website, which can be found at www.aureus-vu.nl/hpc. Per person you can acquire a maximum of 1 ticket.

4.1 Cancellation or change by participants
HPC tickets awarded to individuals are non transferable; meaning these tickets cannot be given to others after the allocation of tickets.
After being awarded a HPC ticket, participants are expected to participate during the HPC final day, which will be organized in May. The date and time of this HPC final day will be communicated to the individual participants after being awarded a ticket. Only in special circumstances are participants allowed to be absent during the HPC final day. These circumstances will be assessed individually.
4.2 Cancellation or change by Aureus
Aureus has the right at all time to terminate the HPC or change the content of the HPC final day, the prize, and any other related issues concerning this project.
4.3 Prize
At the end of the HPC final day the winner of the prize, being 2 flights from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to an international airport in New York, a hotel room for 2 for 4 nights, and €500 cash, will be announced. This prize is non transferable to other individuals, nor is it transferable to cash or other assets. The winner is free to choose another individual who will accompany him/her to New York. This person does not have to study at the VU University, nor have participated in the HPC. Aureus will deliver the prize, consisting of the air tickets and accommodation, without consulting the winner of the HPC final day. Only the dates (see section 4.2) are subject of discussion.
4.4 Inclusions and Exclusions:
Prize does include: Accommodation, flights, and €500,- cash.
Prize does not include: Any costs incurred en route to and from the destination, meals, alcoholic beverages, telephone calls, items of a personal nature, and personal services not specified as being included in costs. Prize also does not include transfers, tours/cruises, car hire, and government taxes.
4.5 Dates
Aureus and the winner of the HPC will decide in collaboration on the departure and return date regarding the prize. Once a departure date is chosen, the prize cannot be changed, expanded or cancelled. See section 4.3 for exceptions of this provision.
5.
5.1 Liability Disclaimer/Force Majeure
If, due to force majeure, the winner of the HPC is not able to collect his/her prize, Aureus will try to provide a similar alternative. This happens on the basis of best effort, and Aureus cannot be held liable if no alternative prize can be found.
5.2 Liability Limitation
Aureus and its partners are in no circumstances liable for death, injuries, loss of possessions or any criminal offences inflicted by the winner of the HPC, nor the other person that accompanies him/her to New York. Aureus and its partners are also never liable for damage or injuries inflicted to others by the winner of the HPC, nor the other person that accompanies him/her to New York.
Aureus and its partners are also in no circumstances liable for any harm caused during or as a result of this challenge.
6. Participant information Privacy
Any personal information needed from the participants will only be used for communication regarding the HPC, and will never be passed on or sold to any third parties.
7. Other Provisions
7.1 Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are subject to the Dutch law.
During the stay in New York, the winner and the accompanying person should act according to US law. Aureus and its partners can in no circumstances be held liable if above mentioned individuals fail to do so. See section 4.4 for more information.
7.2 Dispute Resolution
Disputes will solely be resolved by mutual agreement, or if no mutual acceptable solution is found, by a qualified Dutch judge.
8. Copyright
The copyright on all original/custom artwork, presentation methods and design elements included in our web sites is held exclusively by Aureus. Copyright on all descriptive text is held by Aureus. Copyright on selected photographic images is also held by Aureus.
